Shop Assistant / Maintenance Mechanic

The Shop Assistant/Maintenance Mechanic must be able to clearly demonstrate their ability to reach performance goals. They must conduct every aspect of their position in an ethical manner. They must have the ability to work well under pressure and complete tasks in a professional, expedient manner.
Must be able to work a minimum of 45 hours a week on a regular basis. They must be ready for work by their agreed upon starting time, and attendance at work is an essential function of this position. They must be flexible, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision.
Areas of Responsibility
Unless otherwise specified, the Shop Assistant/Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for completing tasks and work assigned. This responsibility includes but not limited to a dedication to the company s mission statement, to personal development and growth, to company performance and to 100% customer satisfaction. The Shop Assistant/Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for following the company policies and procedures as outlined here, in the employee handbook and in task-specific procedures.
Empty customer parking area and put vehicles in the appropriate area
Check oil, coolant and tire pressures on rentals and service trucks
Start all Service Trucks and rentals once per week and let run to normal operating temperature. Document any and all concerns per work flow procedure
Road test, clean/detail customer vehicles
Remove old tires from shop
Put scrap metal in recycling bin
Assist with shop cleaning tasks
Assist technicians when needed
Perform repairs on vehicles and equipment, I.E.: Tire services, fluids change and top off, batteries, wash vehicles and equipment, shop equipment maintenance and other repairs not limited to what is listed
Pick up parts and deliver vehicles
Pull rentals and vehicles around for drivers
Provide own set of basic hand tools see tool list
Assist in loading/unloading freight
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to be on feet for extended periods
Assist in service calls. Some may be out of town
Continue to train, learn and grow
Fork lift operation
All employees must meet minimum DOT requirements.
Valid Driver s License
Certification of Violations a record of any citations or convictions in the last year.
A Certificate of Violations will need to be filled out every time you receive or are convicted of a traffic violation &/or receive a citation. You must notify your supervisor immediately and get a form from the office.
DOT Physical every 2 years unless specified other wise by the doctor.
DOT Inspection form is required to be current & in every service truck
Daily Log turn into the office with your trip sheet

Pre-trip Inspection of vehicle
All employees will be subject to random drug testing as part of a pool of drivers
Technicians must commit to continuously educate themselves through industry-recognized classes, seminars, and tests in order to keep up with changes in the industry and new vehicles.
All technicians are required to have the ability and willingness to attend training classes.
